Training was with Brian tonight. With the Sandown 6.2 kilometre Relays coming up in a fortnight, Brian wanted us to work on our speed endurance
So, tonight we had a 2 km effort, then a 1 km effort, then a 2 km effort to finish off. The mandate was steady, medium, solid
Had Liam for company on the first 2 km effort and after 3:17 on the first kilometre, we knocked that effort over with 6:40 on the clock. I was a bit cranky at that because I thought it was a bit too fast for just a steady effort. Liam and hit the finish line and straight into a 1 km slow recovery
The 1 km effort was certainly medium paced but we still felt we were working and not sure what Liam did, but I recorded 3:15 and then straight into another 1 km slow recovery
Brian gave us a pep talk before the last set and said this was going to be a test of our mental strength. Went through the first kilometre in 3:07 and wondered how on earth I was going to maintain such a crazy pace. In myself I felt that I was pushing way too hard. Still, on the last kilometre, I didn't drop off too much and finish up with 6:20
Very pleased with that, and a sign off good things to come for the summer fingers crossed!
TOTAL DISTANCE : about eight kilometres including warm up and down
