Training was with Brian tonight. A pretty easy session which was surprising as I thought our easy week on the track would be next week. A very different session too. I did this one when I came down to the club the first time about five years ago, but we haven't done it too often since
We jogged from the track and over to the back of Coburg Lake for a hill set on the bike path. There is an awesome hill there that goes up at about thirty degrees for some 150 metres or so. Brian put some flashing lights on the bike path (which was quite dark with no lighting there) and we were right to go
We did four long hills of about 120 metres with slow jog back down recovery. We then had a five minute slow jog and very short rest. The next set was four short hills of about 100 metres with slow jog back down recovery
Then it was jog back to the track. I found that I was able to maintain a strong pace for each effort and could probably have handled six repeats rather than four
TOTAL DISTANCE : about 5.5 kilometres including warm up and down
