Brian set a tough session for us today, which I took to the track with me. The idea was to get the session out of the way early so that Kylie could take Hamish to my mothers
Well any hope of that was dashed when I forgot to take keys to the track. Then a silly mis-communication between Diane Brimacombe and myself meant we ddin't get into the track until 9:20 am. My bad
It was getting kinda warm - already well on the way to 35 degrees. After doing warms up in the shade, session called for a 1200, 1000 and 800 with five mins walk recovery between each. With 6 x 150's with walk back recovery to finish off
With such a big difference in fitness in the group, I figured that a 600 walk recovery after the 1200 and a 400 walk recovery after the 1000 would approximate the time required
For the 1200, did my first lap in 76 but finished up with 4 minutes all up for 80 secs per lap on average. A bit disapppointing as I was hoping to go quicker. I was almost ready to go again after just 400 metres of the recovery. But still went the full 600 - that made it a bit more than five minutes recovery. About six minutes all up
The 1000 metre effort wasn't too bad with 3:13 on the watch for 77 seconds per lap average.
The 800 metre effort however was a tad slow at 2:34 for another 77 seconds per lap average
The 150's were pretty tough as it was really steaming up. I was also running in the outside lane to everyone else. Josh ran very well and his last one was awesome. I was pretty stuffed and managed to keep up with everyone until the last one
Got home and put Amelia down to sleep before having some peanut butter toast - breakfast at lunchtime!
We got to the cocktail party, it still being 33 degrees. Rocked up to find that it wasn't so formal after all. Pity no-one had told us. The cocktails were very nice - Harvey Wallbanger was my favourite. Went out for some vodka orange UDL's with some other party guests. Was tossing up between those and beer but thought my beer belly doesn't need to get any bigger
Got back and popped Amelia in the pram and got her to go to sleep. I am told that we left around 12:30 am with me barely able to walk
TOTAL DISTANCE = 5 kilometres including warm up and warm down (does not include 1 kilometre walk recovery)
