Got woken up four times last night. Twice to go to the baby, once to help Amelia back into bed (she had fallen out) and once to go to the toilet to take the longest wee I have ever taken. Must have been the gallons of water I drank before lights out to offset the inevitable morning hangover
My race was at 11:00 am, so we had to get to Central Park nice and early. Kylie wanted to walk for exercise so we walked the 20 minutes to the venue from our motel room
I started off my race alright and was feeling good. Didn't really make up much ground until the thid lap, but was really moving the pack in the last 300 metres or so. Got caught on a big pack with 150 metre left. One of the backmarkers went with me and he eased off and mentally I did the same, so wasn't real pleased with that when analysing my race later
There was drama aplenty when runners placed first and second with 40 metres to go both spectacularly tripped over each other and fell to the ground in a heap. The girl involved was staying in my motel. I was in the pack behind them and we all ran around them!
Afterwards, I was the first person to go over and see if she was okay. She was still in the hands of the trainer 20 minutes later
Got really cranky with the admin people as it was not until after 4 pm that they posted the results of my race. Yes, my 11 am race! Shocked to find that I had run 4:09, which was equivalent to 4:22 for a 1500 race. Didn't think I was in that sort of form after only three months and looking forward to tomorrow
TOTAL DISTANCE = about 5.5 kilometres
